Late to the Sandwich Party, or A Litany of Excuses

This is Sandwich Party Central.

I had all kinds of hip ideas for posting the ultimate localvore sandwich, consisting of diverse and unlikely ingredients that're produced within, say, a mile of my house. But I was sick over the weekend, which pretty well hosed my time at the farmers market and my trip to the coop.

Still, I could have posted the Vermont Special, which is peanut butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper on localvore bread, but I've already covered that territory, and anyway one of my roommates consumed all of our maple syrup in the last two days. And no, I don't want to know exactly how.

What remains, therefore, I fittingly call The Remainder Sandwich; I think this is pretty self-explanatory.

NB - In an unavoidable violation of my localvore preferences, I find I only like Dutch cheese. The rindy slivers on this sandwich are Smaakvol, a salty, aged Dutch cheese available at my local coop. The name means 'flavorful' in Dutch, but the Blacksmith and I call it Smack-Vole or sometimes just Whack-a-Mole.
