How I hate the announcements from commentators and 'Washington insiders' that machinations like those of Rod Blagojevich are commonplace in political backrooms. They seem to carry a tacit suggestion that we shrug and accept such things even when they're made public.
Personally I'd like to see this stupid jerk (to borrow a phrase from my dad) removed from office, convicted of violating the Constitution of the State of Illinois, the Constitution of the United States, not to mention elementary ethics, and then driven from the courtroom by an enraged Paul Giamatti dressed as John Adams, complete with powdered wig, and cane held aloft. I'm thinking that would be awesome.

I hear you girl! People (my husband)say that's just the way of the world, shrugs his shoulders and laughs at my outrage & "naivete". Please. Bring on the man in the powdered wig!
The latest news is that Blagojevich yesterday appointed a Senator for Obama's vacant seat and the news hasn't covered it. It's not in our newspaper this morning. I a saw a brief story on ABC TV last night. Weird, huh? (Maybe I should get cable. As it is, we got one of those converter boxes depicted umpteen times/day in the ads due to the switch to digital television and the phase out of analog signals on the radiowave spectrum for some other use.)
molly: Exactly.
mfh: Yes, the follow-up isn't getting as much coverage. But it may get spicy again: Senate Dems are determined to block Burris, his appointee, and the Illinois legislature is still trying to impeach him. I'll be curious to see what happens Tuesday, when Burris tries to take his seat. Maybe that's when Paul Giamatti will come out.
I'm thinking that would be awesome too!
