-7˚, Feels like We Can't Even Think About It

Apparently.

I live in a drafty old house, and the pellet stove is across the frozen tundra downstairs. Despite my landlord's best attempts at air circulation, the house has at least three completely independent climate systems. So lately I've been spending time under my down sleeping bag, watching my breath condense and being glad that at least I don't have to live on arctic deer mice.

It was -18F up here last night. Total N/A. I have been outdoors when it was -36F and the cold was a physical presence that soaked in around the edges of my clothing. I was well dressed, but being outside and alive felt like a limited time offer. Let's hear it for architecture.

Oh Miss G, give me that real cold anytime over this wet on e that drills into your bones. Time for the famous GreenYukTummyBug of La Haye...but hey, had a great silky soup at Crunch and am now, since today, in an inspiring writer's group, led by....none other than Jo Parfit ! who told me to stop being so deep :-) I refuse to be offended.

Did you get any relevant mail recently ? ... from me ?

Miss you, kiss you ,love you, Eva & kids

REALLY; changed the furniture around again last days...'oh Mummy, can you make it as it was when Gwen was here ?' said Anna. Booooh, why am I crying...x

I would guess you really don't want to hear from me. But I could not resist. There are some VERY good reasons for being in Arizona in the winter. Riding around on a bike, or hiking in the mountains in 70 degree temperatures in the sunshine is one of them.

But,please get out from under that cover and tell your landlord to get a better heating system before he looses another tenant! Your mother is worried!

Since we're all giving you advice, come visit me in Florida. It's 77 degrees and sunny.

I don't mind when it's cold outside. In fact, I love it. I love the severe weather warnings, and watching the snow pile up while I read a book or bake cookies.

I just don't like it when it's cold inside. As the Blacksmith says, I live in a house so I don't have to wear a coat all the time.

Yep! Cold weather can be great when toasty warm inside, curled up with a good book, and a hot cup of tea, snow coming down and no where to go.

And there is that exhilaration outside when cross country skiing, etc. in the beauty of the cold and snow.

Yes, there are some great things to be said for a good winter.

But how long did you say it lasts?

Until late April. This is my first full Vermont winter, and it is starting to make me a little crazy.
