Stocking up
The 30th annual Cabot sock sale happened this weekend. Every year thousands of people flock to this endearingly Vermont-y event. Proper socks are crucial to getting through a Vermont winter. (As I once observed, we don't have fashion in Vermont; we have preparation.) So I bought maybe a few pairs.
Cabot Hosiery makes some really magnificent socks. The company has been in the Cabot family for three generations, and they make everything right here in Vermont, no outsourcing whatsoever. The loyalty that that generates is hard to exaggerate. Indeed, having 'VT USA' stitched into my socks gives them a little Green Mountain voodoo that makes me feel even warmer.

Although I purchased $73 worth of these socks myself, I will even forgive you if you give me more socks for Christmas.
